I recently went down to the water. And by "water," I mean . . .

. . . frozen mudflats.
The tide was out . . .

. . . way out.
So I turned back toward the rocky cliffs to admire the waterfalls. And by "waterfalls," I mean . . .

Watching people climb ice in zero-degree weather reminded me that I like hot chocolate. And by "hot chocolate," I mean . . .
Hot chocolate! With marshmallows. In my favorite mug.

Back home, just as the sun begins to set.
Dinner last night: broccoli shrimp alfredo

Whenever I check out your photos the only word that repeatedly comes to my mind is AMAZING. Are you continually in awe of your surroundings? I know I am.
Have you always lived in Alaska?

Those were absolutely beautiful photos! I'm mesmerized.
Wow, Kim!!! Those pics are absolutely breathtaking!!! You could make a whole book with just pics like that and it would be a huge sell-out!! I can't believe people actually climb ice like that...do they have a death wish? It just looks seriously dangerous!
I love your bloggy:) It always makes me pause and really appreciate this beautiful world we have.
Hot cocoa is just the best beverage ever:)
Your neck of the woods is so incredibly beautiful. I share your pictures with my husband and he says every time that he wants to go to Alaska.
Those ice climbers made me cold. :)
I took these pictures last Saturday between 4—5:30, which is why the light looks so different in the 2 mudflat shots. It still surprises me how much the Alaskan sky can change in an hour!
3 Bay: I was born and raised in AK, although I have spent significant periods of time in Hawaii, Ohio, and LA. Which explains my mad driving skillz.
Just gorgeous!! On my drive the other day I wanted to stop and take some pics of those "waterfalls" but I was afraid of getting creamed by the nutso drivers on the Arm.
Your pics are beautiful!
Mad driving skillz...
I like that. Thanks!

I can't believe someone is climbing that!!
Such BEAUTIFUL pictures!! I'm always in awe of nature pics.
WHAT BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS! They are truly breathtaking. You live in a beautiful part of this world!
Thanks, Nadine! Your part of the world isn't so bad, either. I once spent just a day in Amsterdam, and hope that I can go back and spend a lot more time exploring the Netherlands.
