Our Mama Beats Your Obama

I kid, I kid!

I'm about as apolitical as they come (who's got time to discuss politics when there are twin toddlers to potty train?!) but since I live in Alaska, Here's to Good Friends asked me to write a guest post about Governor Palin for her Texas readers.

While we're on the topic of politics, and I promise never to bring up current events again on my blog, where did this word "vett" come from? Or is it vette? Vet?

I know that since giving birth to twins I've lost all short-term memory, but has my long-term memory slipped away as well? Because I cannot recall ever hearing the term, other than in shortened form for veterinarian and Corvette. I swear to you that I am hearing it multiple times a day . . . on TV . . . on the radio . . . waiting in line at the grocery store. I think I heard one of my babies singing it loud and proud in the back seat of the minivan. Everyone's peppering their speech with it like vette's the most common word in the English language.

I'm confused. As usual.

I wasn't sure what that meant either so I looked it up at :

3. to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity, validity, etc.: An expert vetted the manuscript before publication

guess that's appropriate for all those political statements that need verification.

Thank you! I was hoping my complaining would cause somebody else to do the research for me. I'm lazy that way.

I read your guest post and liked it. I found your blog from your comments on FussyPants' blog. I am a mom to 5 yo b/g twins. BTW, I really am glad McCain picked Gov. Palin as his veep pick.

I removed my own post because I started to rant about Anne Kilkenny's email against Palin. I didn't like the sound of my own voice (!), so here's the better version:

Glitzen, I'm on my way over . . .

Cool! Another mom of twins--my sistah! Thanks for dropping by, Jen!

I guess because I know Palin personally, my eyes have been opened in a whole new way to the viciousness involved in a political campaign. Wow. All I can say is that I wish both McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden well--may they survive this ordeal and may the country regain its civility.
