As usual, by the time I figured out how to turn on the camera function, the moose was taking off.
The calf stopped running from my bad self and tried to eat a mushroom. Not a real mushroom, mind you, but an ornamental mushroom made out of glass.
When he realized that mushroom wasn't real, he hid behind a tree in embarrassment.
Hiding behind a tree reminded him that he was hungry.
Hiding behind a tree reminded him that he was hungry.
So he wandered out onto the front yard to to try some more mushrooms.
At least they were edible this time.
Dinner last night: salmon pinwheels, fruit salad

I guess part of the learning process is finding the real mushrooms instead of the fake ones.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
Poor disappointed mooselet! You put that glass mushroom out there just to confuse him, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable. What a fun thing to be able to see. Glad he was able to get something to eat.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog and seeing all the pictures of the moose! One of my favorite parts though is when you list what you served for dinner. I think it would be great if you put on the righthand sidebar a catagory for recipes. A lot of the things you make sound delicious. Just a thought! =)
ReplyDeleteThat would be kinda startling...I hope he didn't cut his tongue on it?

ReplyDeleteI'd love the recipe for salmon pinwheels—whatever they are—they sound delicious. How about reactivating the recipe section of the blog:)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking that you hadn't shared any moose recently.
ReplyDeleteWe have a book called "If you give a moose a muffin". Way to be a mooserazzi!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the look on its face when it "hid" behind the tree! LOL
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a moose kneeling down before :-)
ReplyDeleteI had a wild animal wander into my yard yesterday. But it turned out just to be the neighbor kid.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting points. Thanks!

It is still crazy to me that you just have random wild mooses (or moose?) running freely in your yard!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I might read this blog post to my kids tonight as their bedtime story. It's actually pretty cute! Love the pic of the moose behind the tree!
