This girl is 12 and plays competitive soccer, . . .
this kid is 10 and won't stay out of trees, . . .
Cable TV is unavailable where we live,
so a pair of identical twins comes in handy when we need to be entertained.
We reside in Alaska, . . .
our mouse-murdering cat, Tie-Dye, . . .
and the many moose that run through our back yard. Git! Shoo! No, not you, gentle readers. I was yelling at the moose. Don't let their cute babies fool you.
Git out of here, you skinny-legged twig eater!
I don’t know how to describe my blog, other than to say that I write a little of this and that, and post lots of pictures of . . .
Wildlife, . . .

Thanks for stopping by. If you don't come back again real soon, I could get so lonely I might wander out into a snowbank and die. And it would be all your fault.

Hanneke

ReplyDeleteYou seem to set a very down to earth tone here on your blog. I like it. :) Congrats on being featured today!!
In regards to your tree climber...it must be the age. When my daughter was 10-11 (she's now 15), I would find her at the very tiptop of the trees in our yard (scary), but I think she has outgrown tree climbing for now.

Anna
Kim, congrats on your SITS day! I think my favorite thing ever is seeing that the featured bloggers for SITS is someone that I already read. It makes me popular in some weird way.

ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so excited that it's your SITS Day! Savor it, but don't let the local moose population find out they have a following - they'll expect a photo shoot every time they wander through the back yard ;)

ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS! What a wonderful blog and beautiful kids and landscapes...I can't wait to read more each day!
ReplyDeleteWell I missed your initial post! Caught your other ones (the head butting volleyball move is awesome). I like your writing style, I really do! Please don't go out into a snowbank and die - I'll be here to read every time you post, really!!

Stopping by from SITS! Love your blog! I'm going to poke around!
ReplyDeleteYou are funny so I "followed" you.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS! Daisy is adorable, Tie-Dye is downright scary, and your girls are lovely. I totally envy you for living in such a beautiful place! = )
ReplyDeleteLove you pictures! Your cat looks like she could handle one of those moose! There's nothing like wildlife tromping through your yard to give you something to talk about! We had a huge gaggle of turkeys that did the turkey walk through our yard for about a month. Right before Thanksgiving. Then they disappeared:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your SITS day!
A trip to Alaska is on my bucket list. Your photos are gorgeous. I'm adding you to my reader. Can't wait to look around a little more. Happy SITS Day.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS...love your intro for all of us...beautiful family and wildlife!
ReplyDeleteBEAU-TIFUL pictures!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay so I will be your 106th commenter! My word! Way to go SITS girls!
ReplyDeleteYour little girls are ADORABLE! My little girl is 26 now! I also have three boys and I love them dearly but I do miss having a little girl around. I keep telling my daughter she must have me some girls!
We get lots of wildlife around here too: possums (one that use to come by was the size of a Rottweiler), raccoons, armadillos and foxes, just to name a few.
But it sure does sound nice up there! I just couldn't do the long winter. It's gotten hard enough to tolerate the winters here in Tallahassee (and it does get cold here!) When my kids are grown I am moving to the beach! You're welcome to join me!
Happy SITS Day! I love your post for today. You have some gorgeous children and gorgeous surroundings which you capture beautifully. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great SITS day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your SITS day! I love your photos. Off to poke around at some other posts...
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous photos. I love it. Happy SITS feature. Will follow you!

ReplyDeleteWhat??!! It's your SITS day?! I had no idea (I'm guilty of not visiting the site as often as I used to)!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see you be in the spotlight!!! I cannot get over the pic of the moose running through your backyard with the girls peering out the window. We just don't see that here in CA!!!
Congratulations on your SITS day!
ReplyDeleteI came from SITS and I shall stay - your photos are AMAZING - what a beautiful part of the world you live in, and what glorious daughters you have!
ReplyDeleteFar be it for me to let that happen. LOVE your blog! :o)
ReplyDeleteThose moose babies are laughing at you...
Goodness. That is a lot of pressure. I will be coming back because I love pictures of wildlife and crazy-haired little girls.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place.
And I love your John Deere sprinkler. I want one.
Happy belated SITS day.
LisaDay
I am lovin the vibe of all the "wild" things in your life, so glorious and wonderful in the every day glory kind of way - happy SITS day to you sweet bella, it will be a sheer pleasure taking a stroll through your world and all of the beauty within....
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteHurray for your SITS day. I'm a day late and more than a dollar short. That was a crazy shot of the moose walking by the window! Your cat looks like it just ate a mouse. I will try to remember to come back because if your snow banks are as high as ours, you'd die out there and no one would find you until July!
ReplyDelete~Mimi
Happy SITS Day, Kim! Sorry I'm late to the party!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I will live in Alaska some day. If only for a little while. It's just too beautiful to stay away from.
HI! Belated Happy SITS Day. Yeah, I know I'm behind. Not enough hours some days.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that Alaska was beautiful (great photos) but I never want to go there. I'm a real suck when it comes to cold.
I'll stay down south in Vancouver thanks very much.
Happy SITS day! I'm so happy for you. Sorry to be so late but I'm extremely behind in my blog reading.
