Kids Are Kids

I asked my 12-year-old daughter what she's liked best so far about our trip. Was it the airplane ride to New Mexico? All the great soccer she's been playing? Getting to spend fun time with her friends and teammates? Perhaps the bonding with her dear mother? Her answer . . .

. . . swimming in the hotel pool.

Don't they make you feel loved? It's like when I spent the whole day with my boys, at the library, playing together, tag, etc. Their favorite part...the ice cream.

I'm pretty sure I would have said much the same thing as a child!

Hi Kim,

But, of course, she loves swimming best! I think swimming outside is something that is so special for Alaskan kids. Sara and Jean always loved it when we visited the lower 48.

We have a new outdoor swimming pool in our town and I'm swimming for an hour every morning at 7:00 when the weather agrees. When it doesn't, it's the old inside pool.

Your pictures are such fun. I sure hope to visit and see your kids again. I can't believe how the twins have grown. . .

It must be a novelty for her. My kids are already bored with the pool and due to our 100 degree days, the water is as warm as bathwater. NOT refreshing at all. Ick.

HA ha! That is ALWAYS what my girls say too! What is it about hotel pools? Last time we went on a little weekend get a way, I planned a whole day for them to just play in the pool. And I scrapbooked. It was heaven.
