Road Trip

I love the privacy and peacefulness of living in the woods, but I grew up on the water and I've been missing it. Last week was Spring Break and the perfect time to pack up the kids and hit the road.

Can you tell that our minivan has a DVD player? In my defense, I only let the kids watch movies in the car when we're on a road trip; they're not allowed to watch videos if we're just driving around town. Poor things.

Yay! We're getting closer. I'm feeling better already.

I'm so happy to smell the ocean air that
I don't even mind the squawking seagulls.
They'd better watch out, though . . .

. . . this eagle won't hesitate to swoop in and steal their food.

Speaking of eagles, my 9-year-old possesses the eyesight of one. She found a starfish at the beach. It's a gift. If there's a starfish laying around, this kid'll find it.

Dinner last night: chicken enchiladas, refried beans, corn, green salad

We took a short trip too. Ours sucked. Glad yours didn't.

Breathtaking. Cold, but breathtaking.

How many hours does it take you to get to the beach? I admire you, and I really mean that... I would NEVER take my kids to the beach on a cold day. They'd fight all the way down and sleep all the way back, they'd get wet and freezing cold, the van would get (even more) disgustingly dirty, somebody would wet their pants... not to mention that it's a 3 hour drive. You have guts, girl.

They all look so cute and cozy zoning out on the DVD player!! I'm glad it was a fun trip...I love the picture of your daughter with the starfish. The only time I've ever seen a real one is at an aquarium. How cool that she's able to find one every time!

Those photos are gorgeous. My daughter started noticing DVD players in other cars. I told her that those are for mommies that can't stand to talk to their kids in the car. Kind of rough because we would get one if we took a long car trip!

I mentioned you in my Beautiful Bloggers post today.

I adore looking at these pictures,as it's so hard for me to imagine the beauty around you every day. Your girls, of course, but I'm also talking about the Alaska scenery.
Sigh.

That's amazing! How did she find that thing?
So, where did you go? Down our way..or to Seward? Beautiful pics. Don't you love this time of year? I call it our beautiful "tease" time of year. Yesterday was warm and gorgeous. Today, cold and windy and blah. Gray!

G—those are all taken in/on our way to Homer. I stopped somewhere around Clam Gulch to snap Iliamna? (I think it's Iliamna—could it be Redoubt?)

I want to go to there.

Alaska has always been very high on my Must Visit list, but since I've been reading your blog, I've been DYING to hop on a plane!
